What's the rationality behind evangelist christians funding anti-gay laws in Uganda?

Please do not confuse hatred towards homosexuals with what God has said in His word, that it is a sin. God tells us to love others, but He also tells us what is sin in His eyes. A person who loves God and believes His word does not compromise it. That doesn't give anyone license to abuse another person.
